Long Buckby entertained Studley for this league encounter and for the second time in two weeks. In the previous game Studley gave Buckby a first half lesson in finishing, scoring all their 4 goals in the first period. Buckby started well this time but found themselves 2-0 down after 15 minutes, the centre midfield player losing his marker and slotting home after a good through ball for the 1st. The 2nd was a gift as Mattock's header back to the keeper fell short and the quick Cooke pounced. The remainder of the first half was end to end with Buckby trying hard to get back into the game, ht 0-2. Harry Mattock then more than made up for the error, scoring 2 goals in a minute, within 15 minutes of the restart. His 1st was a stunning 25 yard free-kick into the far top corner and he scored his and Buckby's 2nd when meeting Oddy's free-kick with a first time half volley from around the penalty spot. Within 5 minutes Studley made it 3-2 when Cooke was given too much space and his cross come shot flew over the keeper and into the far corner. Buckby then made it 3-3 with 15minutes left when the excellent Logan Macleod finished into the bottom corner from 12 yards. With only 10 minutes remaining centre midfielder, Luke Richardson scored an excellent individual goal, beating 3 players before calmly finishing to make it 4-3 to Studley. Buckby piled on the pressure with Ansell & Kofi missing the target when in very good positions. However, Kofi then ran onto a through ball and smashed an unstoppable shot from the edge of the area to make it 4-4 with only 4 minutes left. Unfortuneately, James Schembri was then given a 2nd yellow card when complaining to the referee. Both teams were not settling for a draw as they both attacked with pace. Buckby were dangerous all game from set pieces and with only 1 minute remaining won a free-kick out wide. McGannon's delivery was perfect and skipper Ben Oddy rose to head into the bottom corner giving the keeper no chance, Buckby winning a great game of football 5-4. A further Studley player was given a red card after the final whistle. This was a very competitive game of quality football from 2 teams that wanted to win all 3 points. MOM Logan Macleod, excellent display.
