Long Buckby played some very good football in this first match in the Cup group. Romulus from Birmingham took a shock 1-0 lead after only 4 minutes when some good wing play saw an early cross met first time and was duly side footed into the bottom corner. Buckby then laid siege to the Romulus goal but some how failed to equalise with Sturgess hitting the post and Proud squandering many chances. Then a great move saw Proud put Kofi away and this time it was brilliantly finished, 1-1 after 20 minutes. Buckby had some 10 corners in the first half and it was from one of these that Proud's corner was brilliantly met by Oddy, giving the keeper no chance to make it 2-1. Buckby somehow failed to increase their lead and were punished on the stroke of half time when a long throw into the box was not cleared, 2-2 at half time. The second half was dominated by Buckby and but many more chances were not converted with Mattock and Sibanda crashing shots against the underside of the bar. Midway through the half a William's through ball put Kofi away and he cooly lobbed the ball over the keeper. MOM Brunero, brilliant display.
